Badnjak u Splitu/ Christmas Eve in Split/La vigilia di Natale a Spalato

Today it's raining cats and dogs in Mostar. I just got back home from the library and I'm soaking wet not to mention that I managed to slip down  and almost injured myself (I'm not so crazy about the rain right now). Anyway  I'm in Mostar again (the photos I took for the last post were taken here).

 However, the photographs  I want to show you were taken in Split on Christmas Eve. It was one of the most beautiful days ever, sunny and warm. I decided to have some fun so I mixed different colours and patterns together.  On top of it all I wore a dark (sort of grunge )corduroy coat I haven't worn since High school. (not that  I needed the coat during the day.) 



















Danas kiša pada kao iz kabla u Mostaru. Vratila sam se i knjižnice skoro pokisla do kože. Usput sam se uspjela i poskliznuti i skoro se razbiti tako da nisam baš luda za kišom u ovom trenutku. Kao što rekoh, u Mostaru sam opet i one fotografije iz jučerašnjeg posta su slikane tu. Međutim, danas vam želim pokazati što sam nosila za ovaj Badnjak u Splitu. Dan je bio sunčan, stvarno prekrasan. Izmiješala sam svakakve boje i uzorke, a nosila sam i jedan kaput neurednog izgleda (od samta) kojeg nisam obukla od srednje škole. Želim vam svima lijep dan!

WELCOMING SPRING WITH 15 IDEAS TO COMBAT SPRING FATIGUE!

 Welcome Spring! We welcome thy beauty! We also fear thy evil twin- The Spring Fatigue. Like in a telenovela, one rarely comes without the other. Both are inevitable, so let's just welcome the first and try to manage the other until it perishes (in a slow motion) in a fatal car accident. That's what always happened in the Latin soap operas (i.e telenovelas) that were all the rave when I was a kid (and that are the reason why many Croatian people have a pretty good passive understanding of Spanish without even learning it in school, but I digress).  My point is that the beautiful Spring often comes accompanied with Spring Fatigue that can range from mild tiredness to extreme exhaustion. Let there be colour! (outfit post) / Neka bude boja (odjevna kombinacija)

It was over 40 degrees Celsius (that's over 100 Fahrenheit) when these photographs were taken. Seriously! I'm obviously a desert type when I'm able to enjoy being out at midday in a city that is practically an oven. If you did not know Mostar city is surrounded by mountains and hills which pretty much turns it into an urban oven. Yes, this city is a champion of unbelievably high temperatures during the Summer. So, this hat was as much a necessity as a fashion statement. Wearing a hat when temperature is over 100 Fahrenheit is a sound idea, believe me. Speaking of Fahrenheits,  have you read  Fahrenheit 451  by Ray Bradbury? You should, you know, it really is a brilliant dystopian novel.   Hello readers and fellow bloggers!  Welcome Spring. What does Spring means to you?  To me, it means a great many things. This year, it meant a possibility of a longer spring break. As the school I'm currently teaching in is an International one, obviously this means different cultures and nationalities. With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Belluci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily.  The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself! Seeing that Malena is a historical movie, Maurizio choose quite timeless outfits and cuts that will ever go out of style. That fact makes Malena movie the perfect place to look for inspiration! Painting of the day (A Lioness) / Slika dana (Lavica)

When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did was walk to the kitchen. Naturally, I was there to make coffee (can’t start a day without it) but while I was at it, I decided to also make a nice cup of warm chocolate. I figured that one can’t have too many warm drinks when the weather is misbehaving. Plus, I wanted something to drink right away, and because preparing coffee my style takes a while (wouldn’t be caught dead drinking instant coffee;)) I opted for warm chocolate first and it was nice but I have to remember to make my own instant coffee again, I’m sure that stuff they sell in shops are full of all kinds of unhealthy stuff. Speaking of health, I have had a cold for a week now, my throat is still sore and my vocal cords are in pitiful state.  I'm not a big fan of my voice right now, but most people seem to like it. If you spent each day on a different Croatian island, it would take you three years to visit them all, as there are more than a 1, 200 islands in Croatia.
